I’m linking up with Doodle Bugs this week for her weekly 5 For Friday Linky. If you haven’t checked out her wonderful blog yet…well, you should!
So Five things from this week…here we go.
1. I am sitting here slacking off writing report cards. To be fair, I am more than half finished BUT I took a break to go buy sunglasses, to go to the Dollar Store to get canvas for our Father’s Day art project, and to get subway for lunch. Then I had a chocolate break (mandatory report card break of course), then I took a break to sit on my deck because I needed some sun on my legs before I could write anymore. Oh then I emptied the dishwasher. I did get back to work but now I’m here writing for Five for Friday. Is anyone else as bad at report card writing as I am??? Least.Favourite.Part.Of.Teaching.
2. On Wednesday we did some fun QR Code math with 3D Solids. The kids love scanning QR codes. They are so engaged when there’s an ipad in their hands.
If you’re interested in this activity you can find it here in my TPT store.
3. I am going out on Saturday night to a Buck and Doe…for those of you who don’t know what that is (it’s a Canadian thing I think), it’s basically a big party for people who are getting married. All the proceeds from the party go to the bride and groom. Their wedding party sells tickets and then there is loads of cheap booze and fun games and prizes at the party…and usually food! I haven’t been to one of these in YEARS but I know it’s going to be a great time. I rarely get to go out with 2 little munchkins at home but I REALLY need a night out. Plus the girl who is getting married is a coworker who is just awesome so I can’t wait to celebrate with her! (Shout out to Ashlie WHOOP WHOOP!)
4. I am half way through reading this book on inquiry based classrooms:
If you haven’t considered incorporating inquiry into your class I highly suggest it! Check out this book for some great ideas! It’s an easy read.
5. I created my first linky for professional reading but it’s not going very well…I’m thinking it was a bad time of year to talk about professional reading. People are probably cursing me under their breath OOPS! If you aren’t cursing me and you would like to link up, check out this blog post here:
(and yes I know I snipped my picture with the green and yellow squiggles by accident, but I deleted the editable doc and just have the png file now….if I ever finish my report cards I will fix the picture…in other words, that’s probably not happening).
Be sure to check out Doodle Bugs Teaching for more great Five for Friday posts!

Your #1 made me laugh, since it sounds all so familiar!! They'll be done before you know it though! I will need to join up to the linky too, but possibly after reports are due, or…you know…if I need a something to procrastinate with before they're done 😉 Have fun tomorrow night!!

I don't even know how you would get any work done with a beautiful pool there to tempt you!
Seriously. That would kill my motivation to write anything.

Oh, yes reports are so tedious. Apparently we're not going to be doing traditional reports next year though. We're just handing in the notes from a 3 way conference! Hopefully that turns out well and no more report writing!
I hopped over from Doodle Bugs again!

Susanna what grade do you teach again?? I thin reports for anything below third grade are really not the best method.
I love the idea of handing in notes from a 3 way conference. It seems more meaningful!
