I had never heard of this book before but I am sure lucky I got it! I can’t wait to read it to my students on Halloween.
I actually got this book for free from Scholastic because a book I ordered was on back order so they sent me this one in its place! I really lucked out because the back ordered book arrived like 3 days later.
Here is the description from Amazon:
The troublemaking students of Ms. Jenkins’ class arrive at school one day to discover a substitute creacher has come to put a stop to their monkey business! He regales them with mind-boggling stories about his former students who didn’t follow the rules: Keith the glue-eater, Zach the daydreamer, and Hank the prankster, to name a few. But even this multi-tentacled, yellow-spotted, one-eyed monster’s cautionary tales about the consequences of mischief-making can’t seem to change the students’ wicked ways until he reveals the spookiest and most surprising story of all: his own.
The graphics are amazing in this story! I just know my boys will love it…..the girls will too but I have several boys that pretty much zone out unless it is super hero or zombie related (is this just my class???).
Here are some pics I took of the inside of the book:
A colleague of mine used this book for reader’s theatre and the kids just loved it! He used it with his Boys Read Club.
Have any of you read this book with your students? What did they think? Any other great Halloween book recommendations?
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!
It’s snowing here! I’m not going to whine though because I LOVE the snow! It’s the cold I hate.
