Once I finished creating my self-grading digital math bell work, I knew that I wanted something similar for grammar. I teach grammar twice per week in a classroom that has 12 chromebooks (approximately 1 chromebook per 2 students). My school has been looking for ways to trim the paper and copying budget and printing out grammar worksheets for 30 kids twice per week was adding up. I needed a solution that met my needs but it didn’t exist. So I created one!
Digital Grammar Word Work:
I wanted to figure out a way to make my digital grammar word work as independent as I could so that I could meet with my small groups. I decided to go a blended learning route. I added a youtube video to each form that outlines the grammar concept that students will work on. Following the video, students answer 12-15 questions related to the concept shown in the video. Some of the topics include nouns, verbs, adjectives, homophones, plural nouns, past tense verbs, etc.
The best part is that I don’t have to mark their grammar work. The form does all of the work for me and then I get all of the great data from the form including which questions students are struggling with the most. This allows me to target specific students or concepts in my small group instruction.
