Digital Resources to use With G-Suite and Google Classroom

As many teachers begin their journeys using digital tools like Google Classroom and the rest of the G-Suite tools, it’s great to have a few “go to” resources to help you get started. I have been creating digital resources for Google Classroom for a few years now and have developed resources across several grades and subject/content areas. Below I have a brief description of my most popular google classroom activities. These resources can be used on a Chromebook, laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone.

Digital Word Work:

The latest resource in my lineup is a set of self-grading grammar forms. Each form has a youtube video connected to it that students watch and then they completed 12-15 questions based on the concept.

Digital Writing Resources for G-Suite and Google Classroom:

Here is a full year digital writing prompts bundle that you can assign daily. There are picture prompts, fiction prompts, non-fiction, poetry, lists and more. You can buy them monthly or in the bundle.

Digital Reading Resources for G-Suite and Google Classroom:

This is a digital Reader’s Notebook. You can assign the whole notebook to students or pull out one page and assign that to students. They can keep track of their thinking while reading or you can assign it like a book report. It can be used on any device.

All of my novel studies offer both printable and digital format. Currently there are novel studies for The City of Ember, Refugee,  The Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, and A Wrinkle in Time:
This Digital Story Sequencing resource is good for students that need help with sequencing stories. They read the story and then move then use the moveable pieces to put the text into the correct order.

Digital ELA Morning Work: This digital comprehension resource has a reading passage for each day and a different comprehension question. Each passage is read for 5 days and goes through the close reading process. There is also a sentence editing portion on the bottom of each slide. You can purchase these as a bundle or individual sets.

My Digital Interactive Plants Resource: is a great way to incorporate technology with a science unit. Students will explore the parts of a plant as well as the life cycle of a plant.

Have students pick their favorite snack and drink from home and eat/drink while we play digital games. – My students LOVE playing Kahoots during our Google Meets.  I have used the premade ones or made ones specific to our school and classroom. We are doing one of these in the last week. -Digital breakout! If you do a Google Search for Last Day of School digital breakout you will find several options for free OR you can make your own that is customized for your students. I’m going to use the latter option. -Movie trivia! -Virtual Field Trip! Take them on a virtual field trip to a theme park. This is often a year end trip for older students and I’m sure they feel that they are missing out. Disney World is one place that you can visit through Google Maps. You could add links to some google maps street views of Disney and also do some VR rides (you can find a bunch on Youtube). -Create a digital memory book. You could make your own template for your students, have them design their own or you can use a premade one. I have one that is geared more for upper and middle grades (4-8) and one for lower elementary/primary (1-3). Upper/Middle Grades: Lower Elementary: -Have them share their summer plans with you. -Play Scattergories -Play a Jeopardy game, you can play several games for free on this site. You can also use flippity.net to create a Jeopardy style game that you can customize for your own class/school. -Do a scavenger hunt! I found this one for free that you can make a copy of or just play from this copy. -Play I Spy -20 Questions: Pick something that students have learned about during the year and give them 20 questions to ask to see if they can figure out what you are thinking of. We are doing a Google Meet each day of the week for the last week so I plan to do a couple activities each day. If you have other ideas, let me know in the comments and I will add them to my list!
